I have never met anyone who enjoys making collection calls but collection calls are one of the most effective ways to collect your money faster. When you make a phone call and get a debtor on the phone, it is hard to ignore you, you are right there in their face. Unlike a letter that they can just throw in the trash and move on to do something else.

One very important point to remember when making debt collection calls is that you need to document all conversations, the time, the first and last name of the person you spoke with, the date and any other information you can gather. You need to type this into the notes section of your computer n this customers account or write it in their file if you don't have those capabilities.
If you get a machine, child, another adult that you do not know who they are, do not tell them you are calling to collect on a debt. Just leave your company name, your name and your phone number. If the person asks why you are calling, tell them it is a business matter, a personal matter or about their account.
Chances are the person who receives the message will know why you are calling when they get the message that states your company name, your name and number. You may have already sent them a letter which they ignored.
Your follow up on the call is as important if not more important than the initial call. Even if the debtor does not call you back, receiving the messages puts this in the front of their mind and makes them aware of the debt and that you are seriously looking for your money.
