
If you act serious, and are firm about being paid from the beginning, your customers will know that you mean business. If a customer knows you are serious, they are more likely to pay. If you start off with a customer the right way, rather than change later, maybe by trying to make your payment terms more strict, they will give you some resistance because they are used to being able to wait to pay you. Be firm from the beginning to avoid this problem.
If your customers have to fill out a credit application or sign a contract or agreement, this shows you are serious. You are protecting yourself. Also if you use a collection agency and place accounts sooner than later, this shows you mean business.
Your customers will know you are serious if:
- They had to fill out a credit application
- they had to sign an agreement or contract outlining your terms
- They revive their invoices right away
