I have a "Fairness" letter that is a very nice, but blunt letter that gets results. This letter tells your customer that their account is past due and that you were "Fair" to them and would appreciate their "fairness" which means, send your payment today.
You can also add, that if this letters and your payment have crossed in the mail, please disregard the notice. This lets them know that you assume they did pay but it was just a little late and of course the check must be in the mail, but just in case it is not, let me outline our relationship to you.
I give you something, you pay me on time. Fairness.
I used this letter for years and it really worked well for me in getting payments into my office.
Good luck!!
