Credit Policy for businesses and how to extend credit and manage credit risk

When you send collection letters, unless you can get and keep the customers attention, it is a waste of paper, time and postage.

Some things you can do to attract attention and keep attention so that your letter gets read are:

1. Use a BOLD Headline at the top of your letter.
2. Include an attachment, this could be a previous past due notice, invoice copy, proof of delivery.
3. Include a postage paid and addressed reply or payment envelope.  If including postage does not increase response, save your money and just include the envelope.

I have had different responses to the inclusion of postage, some people still won't pay you and will just keep the stamp.
