
1. The Greeting. Even though you are on the phone, your voice can sound dull, or confident, try recording yourself and listening to what you sound like, this will help you to sound more confident when making collection calls.
2. The Voice. Sit straight up in your chair, even though the person on the other end of the phone cannot see you, if you are slouching and mumbling that will come across in your voice.
3. Eye Contact. You are on the phone, there is no eye contact. When you act distracted on the call, that is as if you are looking around the room and not paying attention to the call. Focus on the caller.
4. Portray Confidence. Do this by staying focused and paying attention. Do not fidget, tap your toes, play with your paper clips or anything else that is not important to the call. Come across as someone who will not cower, or retreat.
Get control of any nervous energy and put all your energy into the phone call, your face, voice and posture and you will be more successful.
