Some of the worst collecting money habits will surprise you. Use this list to help yourself be a better collector, try to avoid these common mistakes and you can be ahead of the game or other collectors:

Not researching the account before picking up the phone to make the call.
Losing 'eye contact or not paying attention to the caller.
Not dressing the part, no sweats please!
Fidgeting, tapping, acting restless.
Not practicing your "spiel".
Not speaking in simple terms or clear terms.
Not keeping your conversation on topic.
Not portraying urgency.
Not telling the debtor or customer, what action you want them to take. Pay Today!

If you can be aware of these common mistakes and eliminate them from your collection calls you will see a vast improvement in the amount of money you are able to collect.
