
- Give false information
- Send out anything that looks like an official government or court document when it is not. By postal mail or email.
- Contacting someone about a debt by postcard.
- Use a false name when trying to collect your money.
- Collecting more than is due unless your states law permits such a charge, such as legal fees.
- Asking for or depositing a post-dated check early.
- Making collect phone calls.
- Threatening to take property unless it can be done legally.
Be sure to follow the FDCPA when trying to collect the money that is owed to you. Even though you are going after money that is legally yours, there are rules you must follow.
