The quickest way I have found to get paid the fastest was to make personal visits.
When that is not an option the second quickest way to get paid faster that I have found is calling. Always leaving a message is key; also if you have more than one number for them and get a machine try the other number. You might just reach them or have to leave another message but it helps to create a sense of urgency and making those calls and leaving the messages will do that. If the customer answers the phone and it is one of the first times you have ever called, whether the number is a cell phone or work number they will be surprised. This works in your favor because they will be surprised and embarrassed that you had to call and normally will pay right away. Keep in mind, this isn’t always the case.
The third fastest way to get paid is to send out a collection notice in a flat rate Priority Mail envelope. This will cost you just the price of the flat rate which right now is $4.05. You can get the envelopes for free at the post office or order a box from the USPS website. If you set up an account with them you can print your own postage and get delivery confirmation for free on each package! This is a great deal and is very effective. I myself and many business owners I know personally have tried this and have always had outstanding results.
So, if you’re in a bind or just want to collect what is owed to you, start out by trying one or all of these things and you will be surprised at the results.
