Cats are sometimes vain, clean, lazy, like to nap and stretch, think they are super smart and like to be catered to.
Debtors are sometimes overextended and feeling scared, causing them to avoid the phone, take a nap and worry about your bill tomorrow.
Cater to your debtors and they will be more likely to pay you. Help the debtors feel better about their situation and you will get better results.
Some things you can do to get paid quicker from a past due debtor:
- Keep calling.
- Send letters with payment envelopes.
- Offer a payment plan.
- Offer to pick up the payments.
- Follow up on payment promises.
- Send a thank you note when you do get paid.
Everyone likes to feel important and needed. A Debtor is sometimes a debtor because of a hardship which is no fault of their own. Do not belittle or degrade someone by thinking this makes them a “bad” person. Work with them and they will respond unless they are a habitual debtor, who really is trying to get out of paying a bill. Put yourself in their shoes, what if your spouse lost their job or your child went into the hospital and you didn’t have insurance, have some compassion but don’t let someone pull your leg. Be aware, and on top of things and you will collect more money.
