When it comes to saving money, personally or for your business, we all have a hard time. Part of this is because we are used to instant gratification, buy now, pay later. With the economy in a crisis, we need to get back to saving and stop spending until we can afford luxuries once again. Some business owners see things such as cell phones, or lavish company vacations, or rewards as a symbol of how well their doing. The truth is, the more you continue to spend on extra extravagances that your business can really do without, the sooner you will be out of business.
Try these tips to be successful in saving money for your business:
- Try to put it on autopolot, can you automatically transfer funds to a savings account each month?
- Reward yourself and your employees with something meaningful to make it worthwhile, can you reward yourself or an employee with a day off with pay, or an iPod?
- Set a goal, write it down and sign it. Do you want to save $500 a month? Sign a contract with yourself and stick to it!
